Lithium Ion batteries still need time

The same way that giving up on Nickel batteries is a bad idea, giving up on all other technology for storing energy is a bad idea at this time.  I'm still a fan of the lead acid battery.  Lead Acid is known, we all have one in our cars already.  And the danger of the system is one we are already familiar with.  We already have gasoline (which explodes) in our cars.

The article starts off by stating the obvious, need cheaper, longer lasting power storage.  but it does need to be repeated.  Economics are the big challenge, and gasoline is a very good way to store energy, as is diesel.  Getting the per mile cost of the vehicles down to something that makes sense is going to require work.

But, when you can get 2 cents per mile off electrical costs, vs 20 cents per mile when you're at $4/gal and 20 mpg.  Then you've got some wiggle room to play with.

Batteries are a key element in the equation.  How we end up solving that equation, I have no idea.
