IPOs pulled
That's a lot of abandoned registrations.
They state the obvious in that taking out IPOs as exits hurts the VC market.
Lots of folks, VCs, LPs, and portfolio companies are feeling the pain.
If anyone ever felt that the VC industry was broken, this will probably be an opportunity to "fix" it.
The challenge is what will it be fixed to?
IPO's are one indication, LP commitments and M&A activity are others. But deals get done, and investors will still work on it. No matter how bad the economy gets, there will be needs, and startups to fill those need, as long as we see disruptions in the market.
If you can be profitable, make money by making sales, then you can weather this storm.
Otherwise you will join all the other failed start-ups in the graveyard.
