Energy Storage is key to cleantech

Energy Storage is key

Here energy storage to smooth out the energy generation is the idea.  Getting wind energy, which generates at off peak hours, to shift the power to peak energy demand times is one element that needs to be solved.

Solar is easier, most people use more power during the day, not really at the dead of night.  Not as much demand in Solar to find good effective storage.  While it would be welcome, it energy storage is not as critical to the overall success of solar as it would be to wind.

Now there is the argument that wind is blowing in a lot of places, and if you have a large enough geographic footprint, then you'll be able to get baseload power.  But right now that is not a viable solution.

So each windfarm has to be self justifying.  Energy storage is still an answer to look for.

Don't agree - The power grid is a beautiful thing in that the generation will be consumed somewhere without the 2x step-down that occurs by going to a battery and back.

Think of this example: electric cars charging at night can consume a balanced level of energy that can be planned for with sustainable sources.
