More MITEF thinking

In a call with one of the directors for the MIT Enteprise Forum of Washington Baltimore, the discussion was where to go, and how to describe our core audience.

The current thinking is if we have a good core audience, then we will attract the service providers, the folks who want to become members of the core audience, etc.

That core audience is entrepreneurs

refined, it is technology entrepreneurs

but most importantly

fledgling technology entrepreneurs.

Why this sub-group?  Because this group is not being catered to specifically, the advice they get is mixed in with the advice given to flowershops and franchisees, etc.  While this is the core group that investors need to mine in order to get real, viable companies to work with.

In the discussion, the concept of a kindergarden or grade school for entrepreneurs.

That is not very flattering, but this is the time when rookie mistakes are being made.  Providing some guidance to avoid the early, easy to make, and easy to avoid mistakes is important.  It gets the company to a more mature stage faster, and with more resources.

maybe bootcamp could be used, but that mental image is already well worn.

Perhaps initiation?

Enter into the secret workings of entrepreneurship...

This will be thrashed out some more, with more discussions and more insights.  But it is slowly forming a cohesive entity.
