Evolving Entrepreneur

I've known Chanu Damarla since my years in Pittsburgh.

Over that time, he's started and experienced several companies.

His latest one is SMaSh

Cellphone wireless technology.

My description doesn't do his concept justice. But for most folks, when they hear the initial idea, it gets dismissed as something that should have already been done, and should already exist.

Use SMS text messaging to do transactions.

Deceptively difficult to manage, because cell phones "forget" what conversation you're having. People are smart enough to have 2 or 3 different text conversations at one time. Sometimes they will have 2 different text conversations with the same person.

However, computers don't always know what you were talking about. They take the approach that the last thing you must have sent must be the basis for the next message. It's not a bad guess, but not the way people use the internet.

Scientists have found that searching on the web, and using the back button, is a lot like sniffing for a scent. Meandering around, going on a few leads, and finding what you were eventually searching for. Now try that with cellphone internet interface. If you're actually on a 2.5G or 3G network, not wifi, then you're going to have long download times, and a challenging experience. if you've got an iphone, with a wifi hotspot near by, then you'll have a great experience.

The use of Txt means that every phone and phone user out there can use it.
And because they're using text, people already know how to use the interface, nothing to learn. So no education cost.

The most impressive bit on this group, and this entrepreneur, are the customers, and the user base. This is short, targeted interaction. Without the wait time of a WAP or webpage download.
