CSI Conference Cleantech Washington DC
Was at the first CSI Cleantech Summit
it went well for an inaugural event. Crowd was smaller, since it was a cleantech policy focused event. Not really a big draw for investors.
But it gave a good basis for folks to look at cleantech.
It covered some of the key elements. Solar was represented by PV, energy storage was electrical energy storage.
It did ignore some things, like solar-thermal, and other areas not really part of the initial introduction.
It was policy heavy, and several folks from the govn't touted the programs they had.
Unfortunately, I walked away feeling that one of us was an idiot. I'll be the first to say it was me. But it seemed like the govn't was putting money into projects and trying to find winners.
A lot of the govn't folks were patting themselves on the back for their policies and programs. Stuff where they were trying their best, but sometimes it ended up being a distraction from what market forces would eventually determine.
Lots of folks focusing on technology. But no one really focusing on the elements of success, or what would determine the most successful use of resources.
It was a good program, but will be improved upon in future iterations.

So, all this travel, how much energy is it using? Wouldn't a phone be more efficient?
For DC? It's just a quick Metro ride. Actually closer than the office.
