Cleantech XIV post analysis

Back from Toronto, and with a few moments of reflection.

There were some good young companies that presented. And the networking went well.

A few things that I learned:
Water uses up a lot of energy.
Energy to pump, clean, filter, treat and dispose.
A lot of energy.

Our infrastructure is a big question mark, not everyone knows what's underneath.

Both Walmart and Microsoft came and spoke.
Each of them explained how they could be part of the cleantech economy and solution.

Walmart is huge, and had just sold their 1 millionth compact florescent bulb. They also decided to unplug the lights in the vending machines, saving a lot of power.

Microsoft went on the datacenter route, how much power is used to cool and support a huge amount of data. Efficiency gained through software.

When it comes to impact, few strategies are as effective as
Energy Efficiency
Water Treatment

Both are ignored, both are powerful, and both can put numbers into the Billions
